Bailey's Happiest Place on Earth

Bailey loves Happy Hollow, especially when she has all of her friends with her. We are so lucky to have so many great friends in our ward for Bailey to play with. She loves them so much! This place is a toddler's heaven. The last time we went Bailey threw the biggest tantrum when we left, the whole park stopped to see whose screaming child that was. Bailey definitely lets you know when you are doing something she doesn't want to do.... It's taught me a lot of patience. So happy she has far more cute moments than bad. Love her.

Christmas Vacation

Our trip to Utah was the best one yet! We were there for two weeks. So we spent the first week with Matt's family and the second with mine. We were able to relax and enjoy both families. We spent the week with my family at my parent's cabin in Midway. It was so beautiful up there. Everything was golden, due to the lack of snow, which we were kind of bummed about at first, but really didn't miss. Mostly because Bailey loves being outside and she was able to go to the park everyday! The weather was as nice as our California weather! Here's some of my favorites of Bailey and Matt that I took on a nice Sunday afternoon, while my family went down to Salt Lake for a friends farewell. This was the first time we were alone with just our little family of three, which Bailey kept asking where everyone was at!! Bailey was in heaven with all the love and attention she got from everyone. Matt and I forgot we had parental responsibilities! It was quite an adjustment when we came home to California. We didn't even have to get up with Bailey in the mornings. It was so nice!

We've really been missing Matt this week. Bailey and I got spoiled real quick having him all day everyday for two weeks.

A Surprise Visit!!

A few weeks ago I got a knock on my door and when I opened the door I burst into tears, because it was my Mom and Dad! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present. They had arranged with Matt a surprise visit. I kind of wondered if maybe my Mom was coming, since I talk to her everyday on the phone and she kept asking me what the weather was going to be like over the weekend, but had many signs (planned...to throw me off) that they probably weren't coming. So when they showed up at my door I couldn't have been more surprised!!

We had such a fun weekend together. We went to Happy Hollow, Santana Row, the park, went shopping, watched the Stanford game at my Aunt and Uncles, toured Stanford, went to the Exploratorium, and spent a night in the city!

Bailey loves her Nana and Pappa! We are loving the new cuddly Bailey! She's never been a cuddler till now. We are soaking up every minute. She comes up to us and says "Snuggles" and will get all cozy on our shoulder. We love it!!

Thanksgiving

Our great friends the Picketts invited us to have Thanksgiving dinner with their whole extended family at the Country Club. What a treat!! The food was amazing. We even had crab! This is the first year where I didn't spend hours in the kitchen making and cleaning up all the food and I have to say it was kind of nice. It made our day very relaxing. We went on a hike up the Dish, went to Starbucks for Carmel Apple Cider (Amazing!!), and fell asleep watching the Thanksgiving parade. We have so much to be grateful for and wonderful friends to make us feel at home.

Christmas PARTAAAY!!

A group of my friends and I threw a Christmas party last weekend! It was so much fun to prepare for. We spent hours and hours making decorations, banners, food labels, handouts, and food, but it was so fun because we did it all together while our kids napped or played together. It turned out so cute.

The day of the party was kind of crazy trying to get everything prepared, but thanks to my multi-talented husband for doing my assignment for the food, the chocolate dipped strawberries drizzled with red chocolate. He never ceases to amaze. Don't those strawberries look great? I was very proud. He has no idea what he has gotten himself into!!

We had an egg-nog drink off that the husbands participated in. It was hilarious. The prize was a pedicure for two. You should've heard the cheering of the wives! Santa also made a surprise visit!

Christmas Tree Hunting

We cut our Christmas tree down for the first time and want to start a new tradition of it. It was so much fun! We bought a deal on Living Social where you could pick any size tree you wanted for $25!! Such a steal.

Matt loved the fact that he was sawing down our own tree. He felt like a mountain man.

Our good friends the Hauleys came with us. Bailey was thrilled to have a friend to run through the trees with.

Twilight

So it takes getting married and having a child to get me to dress up for a premiere of a movie. I have such fun friends!! There are a lot of twilight fans in my ward so we decided to get together and all go see the movie. Two girls went all out and did a full on wedding reception before the movie, with pizza, salad, cupcakes, a wedding cake, favors, and had the place decked out in Twilight decorations. It was quite the site, but walking into the theater was an even better site!! This is the first time in my life were I felt like a celebrity. As soon as we walked in everyone in the theater pulled out their phones and were talking pictures and video. I guess they've never seen 30 brides before. It was hilarious.

Cirque Du Soleil

For Matt's Birthday we went to Cirque du Soleil in the city! It's a must see if you have the opportunity to go. We were in "Aww" the whole time, not once did anyone make a mistake. It was amazing! We splurged and paid $15 for a drink, licorice and M&Ms. It was a great night in the city!

Grandma and Grandpa Bauman

Grandma and Grandpa Bauman (Matt's Parents) came to visit us for a week. We loved having them and Bailey loved the extra attention. We had a great time!! Matt went golfing every morning with his Dad, which was heaven for Matt!! We can't afford his love for that sport. We also went to Muir Woods, Happy Hollow with Bailey, Googleween, Carmel, Monterey Bay Aquarium, the beach, and Point Lobos. They also treated us to a lot of good restaurants in between! Thanks so much. We loved having you come visit! Here's some pictures from the week.

Bailey's first time in the backpack. She screamed for the first 20 minutes of the hike, but seemed to like it after awhile. It was sure nice not having to hold her!

Bailey is going through an obsession with buckles. She could do buckles all day long. I unbuckle her little baby stroller probably 100 times a day (no exaggeration) so she can buckle it again. I think I need to make her a quilt full of buckles. It would probably be her favorite present ever.

Trick-or-Treating

Okay so I promise this is the last post about Halloween. We definitely got our monies worth out of Bailey's costume! For Trick-or-Treating we took Bailey to downtown Los Altos. Each store had candy for the kids. It was the perfect place for toddlers to Trick-or-treat.

It was so fun to have Grandma and Grandpa Bauman all to ourself on Halloween. Bailey loved the one-on-one attention. She's used to fighting for it with all her cousins in Utah.

Last Halloween post until next year! The holiday treated Bailey good this year. WE are currently on a no candy diet around our house. We went overboard this year!

Googleween

Every year Google throws a party for the kids of the employees to come dressed up in their costumes. We've been looking forward to it all year. They have lots of food, pumpkin decorating stations, homemade Kettle Korn, funnel cake, corn maze, a concert for kids, picture taking stations with Princesses and Witches, and a reptile section with all the nasty critters we all would die to see in our homes!! We loved having Grandma and Grandpa Bauman with us this year. More on their visit later. Here's a bunch of pictures from the event!

Bailey and I threw a Halloween party at Sierra Vista Park for all of her little friends. Bailey thought it was hilarious seeing all of her friends dressed up. We had donuts, OJ, and way too much candy! Every friend brought candy for the kids to Trick-or-treat with. It was pretty cute!

Halloween

So Bailey dressed up as "Gossie," one of her favorite book characters from the book "Goosie and Gertie." Her best girlfriend, Audrey, dressed up as "Gertie". The book is about two best friends who are ducks. Gossie wears red rainboats and Gertie wears blue rainboats. They splash in the rain, play hide-and-seek, and they dive in the pond together. Everywhere Gossie goes, Gertie does too. We thought the book was fitting of Bailey and Audrey's little relationship. Enjoy the picture overload:)

Seascape with Matt

Matt had never been to the beach I always talk about on my blog, Seascape Beach, so we decided to head down there last Saturday for the day. It was a perfect day, not a cloud in the sky, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and a friend for Bailey. My good friend, Steph, was induced with her 2nd baby, so we had Brighton for a couple of days. Bailey was in heaven!

Fall Recital

Last week I had my first violin recital with my new students in the Bay Area! I held it in the Relief Society room at my church. There was a stage and everything. It went so well. I was so proud of each of them and how hard they worked. They were all so nervous to perform for the first time, but they did wonderful. I absolutely love teaching, these kids bring so much joy and happiness to my life with all their different personalities. I'm so grateful to have such wonderful friends in my ward who watch Bailey while I teach! Bailey couldn't be happier as well.

Nike Woman's Marathon

A couple weeks ago Rachael and Ali, my close friends from high school, came into town to run the Nike Woman's Marathon in San Francisco. I decided to do it with them, but just did the half, which I was so grateful. I was more than ready to be done at mile 13. There were a lot more hills than I trained for, but it was so much fun. We started at Union square and ran on Embarcadero Rd. past Pier 39 and Golden Gate bridge and through the rolling hills and along the coast ending at the beach. The scenery was amazing. I definitely want to do it again next year!

One of the big incentives for running the race was for the Tiffany necklace you received at the finish line. It was so cute!

Matt was actually on a "Man Trip" with some friends the same weekend my friends were in town, so we lived it up! We went to the beach, went shopping, out to eat, and stayed up every night till 1 reminiscing about the good ol' high school days. So happy to have them visit and for encouraging me to run a half marathon!

Lemos Farm

Last weekend we headed to Lemos Farm, which is an adorable pumpkin patch in half moon bay. This little town prides themselves on Halloween and goes all out. There are about 20 different pumpkin patches in the area. Its really fun! And they compete to get the most people there. At this particular pumpkin patch they had train, hay, and pony rides for the kids. We only did the train ride, the adults liked it more than the kids I think. Bailey's favorite part of the outing was the popcorn:)

This picture doesn't show how much fun these two were having on this. They were laughing so hard. It was a bucking covered wagon ride. 1st time I've ever seen one of those.

We have been trying to make it to the beach every week, because the beach is beautiful at this time of year. Our favorite place to go is Seascape beach. Every time we've been there it has been sunny and not crowded. It's awesome! Last week we went and there was a little pond of water that was perfect for the kids to play in and it was clean because the ocean would keep circulating the water. Bailey and her friend, Brighton, were in heaven for hours. The kids entertained themselves while Steph (Brighton's mom) and I just relaxed on the beach.

You know its been a successful visit to the beach when your child is covered in sand from head to toe.

It's been a busy month, I can't believe it is already October! Oh how I love this time of year. It's not 90 degrees in our apartment anymore, so I can turn my oven on again. haha We've been enjoying lots of pumpkin recipes and soups the last few weeks. Another reason why I love this time of year! Last week Matt had a meeting in Utah and I told him he couldn't go home without me so last minute Bailey and I packed our bags and headed to Utah with him. We went to the BYU/Utah state game with our good friends the Denneys, spent the weekend up in Midway with my family, watched conference, visited Sundance, celebrated Noah's 2nd birthday, saw all the beautiful fall leaves, and spent time with the Baumans! It was short but sweet. It's always so wonderful to be home, especially at this time of year. Fall in Utah is my favorite season! Here's some pictures from our weekend.... unfortunately I was being lazy and didn't take any pictures up at my cabin with my family. Bailey was in heaven with 100% attention from my sisters. They even got up with her at 6:00 in the morning so I could sleep in. They are the best!

These two could be twins. They both have the same little round heads and blonde blonde hair. Bailey sure had fun with all her cousins, aunts, and grandparents. It makes me miss home so much seeing how much fun she has with our families.

Just what the doctor ordered...

Bailey has been SO HARD the last week. We went out of town for Labor day and Bailey didn't sleep well at night and was constantly whining. Boy was my patience tested. I'm pretty sure she was so fussy because of the 6 teeth that are coming in at the same time (4 of them being molars). Poor thing. So I needed to find something for her that would take all of her troubles away....so we headed to Seascape beach and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. Bailey was as happy as could be. She just went off and was in her own little world for three hours and didn't whine once about anything. Its what we both needed.

Lake Tulloch

Last weekend we rented a lake house and boat and spent the weekend in Lake Tulloch with a group of friends. It was amazing, except for the 10 pounds we gained from all the treats!

Mike, Mary, Matthew, and baby Eleanor. She was the sweetest baby I have ever seen. Never heard her make a peep while we were there and she would lay on her play mat for hours if you wanted her to. Bailey was also in heaven having a baby around 24-7. She is obsessed with babies these days.

Every morning Bailey would wake up ready to go on the "boat!" This particular morning we put her life jacket over her jammies, grabbed her some "saks" (snacks) and went for an early ride on the glassy lake. I can't get over her thighs in theis picture. We're hopeing she didn't inherit her Dad's thighs.

Bailey has never been a cuddler. I'm praying for one of those some day, but on the boat she was! Matt and I were soaking it up for all it was worth.

Bailey is loving life these days. She even gets to take baths with her younger boyfriend Max (Bailey has a quite a few crushes). These two have a good time together.

We had to watch the hands one these two. They were starting to get a little TOO curious.

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to my sister who was living with us this summer. I cried my eyes out as she drove away. We had so much fun together taking our kids all over town. It was so nice having company every day and all the extra help. We love you Meg.

A couple weeks ago we bought season passes to Happy Halo. It's a darling place for toddlers. They have a petting zoo, puppet shows, rides, many playgrounds, and a zoo. Bailey was in heaven there. She wasn't too sure of all the rides the first time around. She kept giving me this look like, "What are you trying to do to me MOM!" But after she knew she could do it she loved it the second time we went. I kept looking at her on the rides all by herself wondering how she grew up so fast!

Bailey is so lucky to have 3 friends in our ward within 3 months of her age. She has so much fun with them. Last week we took the kids to Ardenwood farms in Fremont. It's a darling farm with a bunch of animals for the kids to pet and beautiful gardens for the kids to run around in.

Apple Festival

Last weekend we went up to Sonoma for the Annual Gravenstein Apple Festival. Our good friends, the Georges', live up there so we met up together to experience every possible apple dish you can imagine. We left with our bellies full to the brim. It was quite the experience. People dancing everywhere, kids dressed in full tie-dyed outfits, very interesting items for sale, beehives on display, apple eating contests, and petting farm (Llmas and camels). Loved the small town feel of it all. We had a great time.

Bailey wasn't so sure of the camel. She kept looking back wondering if one was going to lick her ear or something.

Bailey would put food out to the pony so it would come close but would put it away when it got a little TOO close. It was pretty funny.

Over-priced train ride! $4 a person to go around in a circle. Crazy!

All Bailey wanted to do was to go down the slide. We did it about 20 times until I was dripping in sweat and had to bribe her with some apple dumplings to get her mind off it!

Utah Trip

Right after our Oceanside trip Bailey and I spent a week in Utah, so I could be at Katie Wixom's wedding. Katie and I have been such close friends ever since the second grade. She was another one of the cute girls that lived on "Splendor Way." I was so lucky to move into a neighborhood with 5 girls and 5 boys my exact same age. We were all inseparable growing up. We put on plays for the neighborhood, sold lemonade, played house/school/gymnastics/witches, spied on the boys, played night games, had sleepovers, and on and on. I don't know where I would be without these girls. I pray Bailey can find wonderful friends like I had growing up.

I've never seen Katie happier. She was glowing. I couldn't be happier for her. Her husband already had a little girl that is the same age as Bailey, so she is now a wife and a mamma. Her husband and daughter couldn't be luckier.

This was taken the night before her wedding. She had a BBQ for her wedding dinner. I wish I would've taken pictures of the decor. She had giant balloons for the center pieces on all the tables with bright colored ribbons flowing down. Adorable.

We also had the whole week to spend with our family. It was amazing. Bailey was in heaven with my parents and in-laws backyards. Someday we will have one for her. She is definitely not an indoors little girl. She is happiest when she has space to run around. She also loved playing with her cousins.

1st piggies

One day we went to the Hogle Zoo with my mother-in-law, my sister, Nicole, and two darling girls Nicole was babysitting (Savannah and Avery). The zoo has improved so much since the last time I had been there. They have done a great job with it. Bailey loved all the animals, especially the baby elephant.

Savannah was so cute with Bailey. She was her little mom at the zoo. Bailey loved it, but didn't love being picked up by her as you can see in the picture.

Avery in Bailey's stroller. Bailey wanted nothing to do with her stroller, well she usually never wants to sit in it. I have to bring snacks if I want her to sit in it without complaining.

After the zoo we went to "Bob's Brainfreeze" for a sno-cone. I have been craving a sno-cone this whole summer. There aren't any sno shacks in California. Matt and I have been seriously considering opening one. Don't you think it would do well? Anyways, Bailey loved her sno-cone. She loves food more than any one I know. She makes this face when she gets super excited for whatever you are going to put in her mouth. It's hilarious.

We spent most the week up at my cabin in Midway. We swam, rode bikes, got milkshakes, watched lots of movies, and made lots of kettle korn. That's my idea of a vacation.

Maddie can make Bailey laugh more than any person I know. I don't know how she does it. It's pretty cute.

Oceanside

Every two years the Metcalf family (my mom's side of the family) gets together for a family reunion and this year it was in Oceanside, CA. It was about a 6 hour drive south for us. It was such a wonderful trip! Each family had their own beach condo and we would hangout everyday on the beach, and have at least one meal together a day. It was so fun catching up with all my cousins. Matt was in heaven with guys to hangout with every day playing bocce ball, football, and boogie boarding. I was in heaven with a million babysitters so I could lay on the beach with my sisters and cousins. But Bailey was the happiest of all, she had 100% attention, a huge playing area, sand, birds galore, any treat she wanted (her aunts knew how to win her heart) and "wa-wa" everywhere. She would play on the beach for 4 hours straight a day in between her two naps. She did a lot better than I expected. It was great!

So fun to be with all my family. I'm so lucky to have my sisters as my best friends.

Every morning Bailey woke up at the crack of dawn and since we were with all of my family. Matt or I would take Bailey on a walk for couple hours before everyone woke up. There's nothing better than a baby in her jammies.

Every day the boys built something in the sand. I was impressed with some of the things they created. I only captured three of them. They would spend a good 3 hours working on it. It was pretty impressive.

We LOVE summer!

The next two days I'm going to dedicate Bailey's nap time to getting my blog up to date. Blogging has been on the back-burner this summer, but I hope to be caught up by tomorrow. So beware of the picture overload.

Boating in Utah with Matt's parents. We went to Utah the last weekend in June for a friend's wedding. It was a short trip, but we made the most of it, and boating was at the top of the list. It was so fun being with just Matt's parents. We went to Jordanelle, everything was so green! Utah has had quite the wet year. Matt was determined to do every possible thing on the lake... wake-board, two-ski, slalom, and knee-board. He was one sore puppy the next day. He had to do a lot of persuading to get me to jump in to the FREEEZING cold lake. I have never been that cold in my life. No wonder why we were the only ones in the water. I had a lot of fun once my body went numb. ha

If you have never tried two-skies you have to! Yes you like kind of ridiculous, but its so worth it!

Monterey

For our 4th anniversary Matt and I went to Monterey for a little getaway. It was the first time we had ever left Bailey overnight. Our good friends, the Lindes', took her in for a couple of nights. Bailey was in heaven at there house. She had two playmates all day long. I don't even think she realized we were gone. We didn't worry about her one bit. The trip was AMAZING! You forget how nice it is to be alone with your spouse. There's so much more you can do when you don't have your baby. We sure missed her though! We biked the 17-mile drive, biked trough Point Lobos, went to Carmel, read books on the beach, slept-in, went out to eat, and had way too many treats. It was a great way to celebrate 4 years!

We realized after a lot of stares that Matt and I were in the exact same outfit. Salmon colored sweatshirts, black shorts with white stripes down the side, and matching helmets. That's what 4 years of marriage does to you.

I got a little too close to the crashing waves on the rocks! It made Matt's whole trip.

Giants Game

By far Matt's favorite date we've been on.

Every week we do a date night trade with the Hauleys, so each couple can have at least 2 dates a month. It's perfect for us and for Bailey, she couldn't be more thrilled when Audrey comes over or when she gets to go over to Audrey's house. These two are two peas in a pod. People have asked us if they are twins. They are only a couple months different in age, they have so much fun together. The picture above is the two of them watching Backyardigans with their snacks. It only last about 5 minutes, but I thought it was adorable while it lasted.

Sierra Vista Park

We go to this park almost every day. Bailey loves it. It's a close 2nd to the dog park in Bailey's book. IT's only a 5 minute walk and Bailey could be there for a couple hours. She's always on the go... to the swing... to the slide... back to the swing... to the sand box... to the playground... and so on. She's always on the move. No wonder why she's always hungry!

We are loving the summer and can't believe how quickly its passed by.

Bailey 16 months

We went to Utah last week for a friend's wedding and while we were there Bobbie Whitney took some beautiful pictures of Bailey. She is the same photographer who took our wedding photos. Bailey is obsessed with dogs! Her whole body lights up whenever she sees one. It's so cute! Whenever she's having a bad day I take her to the dog park and it changes her mood instantly. Or whenever I go for a run and she's getting restless in her stroller I pray that we see a dog, because it calms her down. So funny!

Whenever Bailey says "Shoe" or "Show" or anything with an "Sh" sound she puckers her lips like this. It's so cute.

Bailey with her Aunt Maddie. Maddie was her second Mom while we were visiting in Utah. She changed her diapers, bathed her, fed her, played dolls with her, etc. Bailey loves her.

Matt and I are having so much fun with her. She's at such a fun age. She's talking so much, which makes it so much easier to give her what she wants. She has such silly little personality. Always trying to make us laugh. We don't know where she came from! We love it!

Shoreline Park

My Beautiful Sister Meg. We've loved having her live with us!

One of our favorite evening outings is to walk on the bay trail over at Shoreline park. It's one of the most beautiful places I've seen and its right in our back yard! There's a lake with many geese, ducks, pelicans, and all different kinds of unique birds. Bailey is in heaven there. There's also many people walking their dogs, which is an added bonus for Bailey! Every time I go there I feel like I'm in the scene from the "Notebook". ha

Bailey is not afraid of these birds at all. She will get right up to them and try to pet them, but these birds can be very feisty. There's been way too many times were Bailey has gotten a little too close and they started hissing and coming toward her like they were going to bite her.

Bailey loves to do whatever she can to make us laugh. This is her new silly face above. And the picture below is her hitting her head. She thinks its hilarious. She's quite the entertainer

Catch up...

Life has been super busy around here, but busy is good! We've been so lucky to have my sister, Megan, living with us the last month. She is nannying for a little boy named, Alec, for the summer. It's nice for me to have someone to talk to during the day, someone to make amazing meals for us, someone to go on runs/walks with, someone to go do fun things with every day, and for Bailey to have a little playmate. We're going to be sad when Megan leaves! Bailey absolutely loves her. The other day Megan was watching Bailey while I was teaching a lesson and I went to pick Bailey up and Bailey didn't want to come to me. That's the first time that's ever happened. ha I think its cute she's developed such a cute relationship with Meg.

Bailey loved her first Easter egg hunt. She was all about finding eggs and putting them in her basket. It was adorable. She had so much fun with all her cousins. She's so lucky to have so many her age.

Nicole's Senior recital

Nicole's recital was amazing. She played so beautifully. I was so happy I could be there for it.

We miss not being close to the cabin in Midway. We love it up there, so luckily we were able to go there for the weekend while we were in town. Our whole family was there together. It was so enjoyable. Bailey had 100% attention so she was very happy and Matt and I could actually relax! It was a wonderful trip. We can't wait to go back to Utah next week for my friend's wedding!

Bailey's at her favorite 2nd cousin, Abby, birthday party. I took a bunch of pictures of the party for my aunt on her camera, but these are the only two that were taken on my camera. It was a hula hoop party. There was an instructor who showed them how to do different tricks on their hula hoops. Such a cute idea. All the kids had a blast and Bailey loved all the attention!

These two have the cutest relationship. Whenever they are together they just follow each other around and just laugh and giggle. We are so sad she will be moving next month. We are going to miss their family so much!

We were so lucky to have Waverly for the day while her mom was out of town. Bailey was so happy to wake up from her nap to find Waverly there. Waverly is so sweet to Bailey. She's about 6 months older and she treats Bailey like her little baby. It's so cute!

Discovery Museum

I have a season pass to this cute museum in Sausilito and Bailey loves it there. I hadn't been there since she started walking so this time it was a totally different experience for her. She was in heaven walking where ever she wanted and I nice break for me not having to carry her! It was fun to have Megan and Alec with us as well!

Matt's Triathalon

Matt was having a hard time trying to find motivation to start working out after football was over. So he decided out of the blue to sign up for a triathalon. I was a little shocked considering he hadn't done any form of exercise for quite a long time, but he just needed to find something to compete in again. Signing up for the triathalon was not only a great thing for him, but an even better thing for me, because he all of the sudden wanted to go for runs and bike rides with me. This has always been like pulling teeth for him. He's never ever been a runner, but now I think he would say its not so bad. He did a great job on the triatholon. Bailey and I were very proud to cheer him on. Bailey would get so excited when she could see him in the distance, but was not so happy when Matt went right by us without picking her up.

Thank goodness there was a Z-bar stand giving out samples. That saved Bailey from absolutely losing it. She ate about 5 whole bars during the two hours we were waiting for Matt. She loved them and its something I didn't feel too guilty giving to her. I went to Costco later that afternoon and bought a whole box.

Bailey is walking! And boy is she happy. She walks around with a huge smile on her face, because she knows she finally has some freedom. She has always been a mover, but I had no idea how much my life would change when she started walking. Just this week she's learned how to get trash out of the garbage, open the drawers to her dresser and likes to empty each one, and unroll the entire roll of toilet paper. I feel like all I do everyday is follow my little tornado around and clean up after her. I sure love her though and am in love with her spunky little personality. She always knows how to make me smile.

This is a picture of Bailey in her Easter dress. She couldn't crawl in it at all so it forced her to be on her feet and learn to walk. So if any of you are trying to get your kid to walk just put them in a long dress. ha

Watts Family Spring Break!

My family came out to visit us over my sister's spring break! Oh how I was counting down the days till this trip. There's nothing like being with your family. We had such a blast! We packed in pretty much everything you can do here, but left a few things off the list to keep them coming back for more. Here's some pictures of all we did.....

One day we went into the city and hit every possible treat attraction, like Paulette's Macaroons, Miette's candy store, Ghiradelli square, Bi-rite creamery (salted caramel ice cream is a must!!), and Trish's mini doughnuts. We walked the Golden Gate Bridge to make up for it. haha I wish it worked that way!

Another one of my beautiful sisters, Megan, who I just found out is coming to live out here for the summer to nanny! I can't wait!!

Weekend with the Georges

So you know how you meet someone and you know instantly that you are going to become the best of friends. Well, that was the case when we met the Georges. Matt and Andrew both played football at BYU together and Tawny and I met watching one of the boys scrimmages. We found out we were married on the exact same day (June 30th), same time (1:00), and that we both play the violin. Crazy! Both Matt and Andrew had three years left of eligibility, so we became so close over the years. About three months ago we found out Andrew was offered a job out in the bay area. We were so so excited! What are the chances of that?!?

Tawny and I bought season passes to the Children's Discovery Museum in San Francisco, its a half way meeting point for us. Bailey and Jack loved it there! They even have things for toddlers to do. There's not too many places like that around.

This past weekend we had a sleepover at our place and watched conference together. During the conference break we took the kids over to the dog park and Shoreline park to feed the ducks. Apparently everyone else had the same idea. It was such a wonderful weekend. We are so happy they are here and look forward to all the many adventures we are going to have in California. Here's some pictures from the weekend.

Taking Away Bailey's Troubles

Ever since Bailey turned one she KNOWS what she wants and unfortunately she doesn't know how to tell me yet. So both of us get frustrated. I seem to never know what it is she wants..... and then the tantrums begin. It's mostly Bailey throwing the tantrums, but somedays its me. ha Not so fun! I've discovered bath time takes away all her troubles, so we are taking 3 or 4 baths somedays! The things we do to make our kids happy. It's either bath time or graham crackers. No one ever told me kids can have tantrums at one. I thought that started at 2!! Hopefully she is just getting them out early. If you have any advice, please tell!!

Bailey turned ONE!

We threw a big birthday bash for Bailey on Saturday at my aunt and uncle's house in San Mateo. They were so kind to open their home to us and all our friends. Jenny (my aunt) and I had so much fun getting ready for it. She helped me so much! She went and got a bunch of flowers and arranged them all. It was so nice of her. She is a woman of many many talents! I'm so lucky to benefit from all of them.

Doing little parties like this is a fun hobby for me. I had so much fun making all the decorations, cooking all the food, making cup cake toppers, and setting up. Doing things like this makes being a mom so much fun. Here's some pictures from the party. There's a lot! Our family in Utah was so sad to not be there so I told them I would post a BUNCH of pictures so they could feel like they were there. So here we go....

Our little family is a finalist for a free photography session by the amazing photographer Julia Wade! Sadly the last professional photo session we've had was when Matt and I were married!! SO WE WOULD LOVE to have Julia come to our hometown and take pictures of our now family of three! I say that like Bailey is a brand new addition to our family, but she turns ONE next week.

What we've been up to....

Napa Valley

We took our bikes up to Napa and went on a 20 mile bike ride through all the vineyards. It was absolutely beautiful! Bailey loves being in her Burley as well, so we all had a great time.

We felt a little out of place though... Everyone around us was dressed to the Hilt, with their nice nice cars, and thousands of dollars worth of wine in their bags. We on the other hand were in our sweats, with "helmet head hair," on bikes that we didn't even own (ours got stolen, so Ryan and Jenny were so nice to let us borrow theirs.), and eating peanut butter sandwiches. Haha I wouldn't trade my life for theirs in a second though. I quite like our simple life!

My mom came to visit!!

It was so nice having my mom her for a few days. I had been counting down since Christmas! It was the first time I was able to have just my mom staying in MY home. It was nice to have her all to myself. Bailey loved it as well. We did a lot of shopping in Burlingame and Santana Row, ate WAY too much, went to Ryan and Jenny's for a Superbowl Party (the food was amazing!), went to the beach in Half Moon Bay and Santa CRuz, went to the Park, had lunch with Matt at Google, watched movies, and played with Bailey. We welcome your visit anytime mom! Love you!

10 Months

Bailey is 10 months already. Can't believe she is in the double digits in months. Where did the time go? We sure love this little bug. She has been learning so many fun things lately. She's crawling... well sort of. It's not the typical up on all fours crawl. It's more of an army crawl, but BOY can she get to wherever or whatever she wants and very fast. I don't know how she does it without getting so tired. She's one strong little girl. She can pull herself up onto anything and everything, which has brought a whole new dynamic into my life. I'm constantly picking up after her. There's times when I have put the same toy away for the tenth time that day. You would think I should just leave it out for the day and clean up when she goes to bed. I'm working on not being so disturbed by clutter everywhere ALL the time. Other things Bailey is doing are clapping her hands, waving to everyone she sees and saying "Hah" for "hi". She is eating EVERYTHING and doesn't know when to stop. We're kind of worried about it. ha This girl knows how to eat! She says "mamma" and "dadda", but not 100% sure she knows what they mean. She loves to swing at the park. The other day she swung for 45 minutes straight and had a smile on her face the whole time. She loves to bounce!! We got her a bouncer that you hook on the doorway for Christmas and she can bounce like nothing you've ever seen. It's hilarious! It occupies her for a long time, which is great for me! She says "No" by shaking her head back and forth. She thinks its funny, so she does it all the time. She puts every little thing in her mouth. I'm constantly sticking my finger down her throat to pull out whatever is in there. I swear I vacuum all the time. She loves holding your hands and walking, actually marching. It's pretty cute. She would definitely pass tryouts for the marching band. Anyways, there are a few of Bailey's new skills she's learned. I'm having so much fun with her. I'm so grateful I have a little buddy to hangout with every day.

Over the weekend we went to half moon bay to enjoy the amazing weather we have been having. It's been 70 degrees the last two weeks. We are loving it! Definitely not used to weather like this in January. We put on the blades and rollerbladed on the beach path and then had a picnic on the beach. It was so much fun! We got a lot of stares though. I guess rollerblading is not the cool thing to do around here.

Christmas (I know it was 4 weeks ago... I'm slackin')

Some of the highlights...

Making Chrismas cookies!!

Google Christmas Party at the Bentley Reserve! The party was absolutely amazing. The decorations, food, and entertainment were all incredible. It was so nice to leave Bailey with our good friends Mike and Mary for the night and get all dressed up and spend the night out on the town. We also went and saw the tree at Union Square. It was the biggest Christmas tree we have ever seen!

Going home to UTAH!!! We drove out and stayed for 17 days. It was so relaxing! We went to see the lights downtown, saw the Christmas windows and Candy shop at the Grand America that my dad designed, went skiing twice, saw all our high school friends, played Lots and lots of games, ate our traditional German dinner with Matt's family, had Christmas with the Bauman's and the 22nd and then with my family on the 25th, watched lots and lots of movies, went out to eat, saw our good friends The Denneys, went to movies, went cross country skiing, made a gingerbread house with my cute nieces and nephews, made christmas tree ornaments with them as well, caught up on all the Oprah episodes I've missed (we don't have cable, I know, CRAZY!), played in the snow with Bailey (it was her first time and she loved it!), relaxed, ate too many sweets, read, went to Christmas parties, played my violin in Matt's parent's ward Christmas program, Bailey played with all her cousins and aunts and was totally spoiled, and Matt and I were able to go on a few dates while Bailey played with her aunts (we miss not having such wonderful babysitters). I didn't have to change a diaper the entire trip. It was such a wonderful Christmas. We were so happy that we were able to see most of Matt's family for a week before Christmas and then spend the week of Christmas up at my cabin in Midway with my family!! It was the perfect trip. It was hard to come home, but coming home to 70 degree weather made it a little easier. We miss Utah so much though! It was great to be home. Love you all! Bailey was in heaven with so many cousins to play with! She woke up every morning and nap time just looking to find where all the kids were. It was so cute! The sad thing is when we came home from Utah she would do the same thing and would not find anyone around and would be so grumpy. We had to schedule a few play dates to keep me sane!!

It was great to be home! There's nothing like it!

Bailey's first time meeting snow!

We went home to Utah for Christmas! It was so nice to be home. We spent the week at my cabin and got snowed in for a couple of days. It was so much fun! Bailey LOVED her first experience in the snow. We sure got a lot of it!!

Here's a quick update of what we have been up to! I know all you want to see is pictures so here we go...

We went down to Carmel with some friends for a weekend getaway. Matt took friday off and we took a little road trip. It was a much needed vacation. We came across this beautiful back drop at Big Sur. It was amazing! We suddenly felt like we were in Hawaii.

Matt and I took our bikes and the burley and road along the coast. Its been our favorite thing we've done since we moved here. It was so beautiful!

Bailey loved being in her Burley and has found her tongue and is always sticking it out. It's pretty cute

Matt's highlight was kayaking off the 18th hole at the Pebble beach golf course

And Bailey's favorite part was playing with my necklace...

Next event was Thanksgiving at Ryan and Jenny's house! Jenny cooked an amazing meal and my cute grandparents from Utah came to visit. It was so fun having them here. We did so many fun things with them. We even went shopping down in the city on Black Friday. My Grandma didn't want to miss out on any deals! She's amazing!

Next event was having my good friend, Rachael, come to visit! We had such a great time!! I love having visitors. (hint hint) We went to the beach, went rollerblading around a beautiful lake, had lunch at Google, went to a movie, went shopping in the city, got hot chocolate from Ghiradelli square (amazing), hiked the DISH, went to Miete, went to Pier 30 and Fisherman's wharf, rode the trolley, went to Crepevine for Oatmeal pancakes, stayed up late and watched movies, and ate way too many sweets! We had such a great time. Rach and I have been friends ever since junior high. We had a good time reminiscing about all our memories we've had together. Thanks Rach for coming. Unfortunately I kept forgetting my camera, but here's some pics from the last day she was here.

She was either always on her play mat or in the car with me running errands. I had no idea how much work it takes to put on a production like this. I had a lot of fun, but am glad its over so I can finish up my Christmas shopping and give Bailey a little more lovin'. Here's some pics of the table centerpieces. This is mostly for my mom:-)

Next big thing is going home to Utah for Christmas!! We are counting down the days. We can't wait to see our family and friends and to show Bailey what snow looks like. Halloween Festivities

We had a fun Halloween week! Bailey got to dress up in her costume several times, which she surprisingly loved. She giggled every time she saw herself in the mirror, and thought it was so funny when someone "moo-ed" at her. Here's little Miss Betsy herself..

The party was amazing! There was a kettle korn station, a haunted house for the kids, a pumpkin decorating station, face painting, cookies, tons of candy, a band and entertainer, food, and tons of gross animals like this snake.... Bailey was clearly not afraid.

Pumpkin Festival

Every year in Half Moon Bay there's a Pumpkin Festival, so we decided to check it out. We had so much fun! There were a bunch of different booths from vendors selling their hand made masterpieces, like wool puppets, wooden toys, paintings, blown glass, handmade soap, etc. It was fun to see how crafty and creative people are! There was also many different pumpkin dishes to try like, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin bread pudding, pumpkin cookies, etc. I was in heaven. I love anything that has to do with pumpkin. Matt said he's a little "pumpkined out" from all the different pumpkin recipes I've tried this past month. On the other hand, I could never get sick of them! Here's some pictures from our outing...

Bailey at 7 months

She loves her food as you can tell by her chubbiness! She loves her American Girl doll tennis racket (Thanks Maddie). She swings it around all day. She loves swinging on the swings (all by herself) at the park and is not afraid of going really high. She loves watching people dance, she thinks it's hilarious. She loves bath time and has learned how to grab her bath toys with her feet and then brings it up to her hands. It's so funny. She's turned into a mamma's girl the past couple weeks, which makes the 12:30 am, 2:30 am, and 4:30am awakenings in the night worth it. Umm... actually I'm not sure about that one. We don't know what the deal is, considering we know she can do it. She was sleeping through the night at 4 weeks. If anyone has any suggestions please tell. She's super happy when she's awake, so it's hard to be frustrated with her in the mornings. She's a smiley and friendly baby. She loves people, but really loves other babies and kids. We love our little girl and don't want her to grow up. It feels like she was born yesterday.

My cute aunt, Jenny, took these pictures of Bailey. Jenny lives in San Mateo, which is about 15 minutes away from me. I'm so grateful she lives so close. We've had so much fun together the last 3 monhts. We have so much in common. The other day I showed up to her house wearing the exact same outfit she was wearing, it was hilarious. Having Jenny close has made the move out here so much easier. She's made Matt and I feel right at home. We love being over at their house.

Mr. & Mrs. Tolson

My sister, Nicole, got married on October 8, 2010! It was such a beautiful ceremony and day. Everything about it was perfect. I was so happy for the two of them. Nicole looked absolutely beautiful and was just glowing. We are so excited to have Tyler in the family!

Being Home

To help out with the wedding, Bailey and I flew out two weeks before to help get all the last minute things done. I loved being home and Bailey loved all the attention she got from her aunts and grandparents. We had so much fun visiting cousins and high school friends, going to the BYU game with the Denneys' and Georges', tailgating with the Bauman's, going up to my cabin, shopping with my mom, pedicures with Nicole, being babysat by Grandma Bauman (Bailey), going to cousin Noah's first birthday party, eating my mom's home cooking, taking naps while my sisters babysat Bailey, going to my sister Kate's soccer tournament, making pumpkin cookies, going on walks in the fall crisp air, and just being "home." There's nothing like being home. Matt and I have missed our families so much, it was so fun to see everyone.

(Almost everyone. For those of you we missed, we will be back at Christmas time! Already counting down the days)

Maddie and Kate, my youngest sisters, were such a big help. Bailey loved being with them. They knew how to tickle Bailey's funny bone. She was always laughing or smiling when they were around.

Labor Day

On Labor Day, we hit the road and drove down to Carmel to do the famous 17-mile drive and for Matt to see his dream golf course, that he hopes he can play on someday. "Someday" is a word we've been using a lot around here, which usually means "never." It's fun to dream though.

Bailey at 5 months

I know I've been horrible at posting about what we've been up to the past 3 months! But it has been super busy!! We've absolutely loved watching Bailey learn how to do new things. She's growing up way too fast. She is our pride and joy. Here's a little update about our whereabouts over the last little while.

We went up to Seattle to visit Matt's brother, Mike, and his wife, Jane! We had so much fun seeing their city. They were such great hosts. We had a wonderful time hiking, shopping, eating, playing games, going to Pike's Place, riding the Ferry, going to Whidbey Island, and going on drives. We love you guys!

Disneyland

We went to Disneyland for two days! We had such a great time! We didn't think Bailey was old enough to enjoy it, but when we were on its a small world she could not stop looking all around. It was so cute.

After a fun vacation with Matt's family, my family met us down there for another fun week. My parents rented a beach house right on the beach. It was heaven for a family of five girls. One day we went to the Wild Animal Park. Here's some pictures...

The rest of the days included relaxing on the beach, boogie boarding, surfing, night time bike rides with the whole family, camp fires, board games, dancing, yogurt runs, reading, cooking, and lots of eating!

Bailey loved all the attention she got from her aunts. She was not left alone for more than a minute.

New Home in California!

At the beginning of August we moved to the Bay Area where Matt was offered a job at Google. My sweet parents made the trek out here with us and all our belongings. It made the move so much easier having them with us. This is the first time I've ever moved out of Utah, so the thought of moving to a new place without our parents close by has been a little overwhelming. Luckily we have my Aunt Jenny and Uncle Ryan out here. They've made us feel right at home, showing us all the "ins" and "outs" of the city. They've been so wonderful. Matt had two weeks of free time when we first moved out. So we got everything all settled and then had a week to have some fun in our new city. Our first stop was the beach!

Second stop was Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf

We drove down the famous Lombard street and took a ride on the cable cars all through the city. Bailey loved it!

You can't go into the city without stopping at Ghiradelli square for some hot chocolate or hot fudge sundaes!

One day we took our bikes into the city and rode along the bay. My parents gave us a burley (the same one I sat in as a child) to attach to our bikes so Bailey could join in on the fun. Her car seat fits in it perfectly. She was so cozy!

Final stop, the San Francisco bridge! We had a great adventurous week. There's so many fun things to do here. We love our new home, but definitely miss everyone we left. We would love to see any of you that are in town or need a place to stay!

Bailey Update

I've been horrible at blogging the last few months. I thought that once I was done working I would be the world's best blogger, but that definitely isn't the case. I never realized how much time being a mommy takes. She definitely keeps me busy, and I've loved every minute of it! Bailey will be three months tomorrow! Time flies..

Thanks Tawny for the mobile. Bailey loves it! She'll sit in her crib and stare at it forever. I love it, because it gives me a little time to get some things done!

My sister-in-law, Jane, came from Seattle to visit us! This was the first time she got to see Bailey and cousin Will. We're actually going out to visit Jane and Mike this weekend. We're so excited!

My dad is doing some work for the Grand America, so they put our family up for the weekend. We had such a great time. They put a piano made of chocolate in each of our rooms. It was pretty amazing!

Bailey's first time swimming. She loved it. She's definitely a little water baby. Being in the tub is one of her favorite places as well.

I don't know if any of you watched the Oprah where she gave a million dollars to whoever made the best recipe with Pillsbury products, but the recipe pictured above is the one who won. Kristy and I decided to give it a try. I don't know if I'd say it was worth a million dollars, but we had a lot of fun making it.

The Busbys (Matt's oldest sister's family) came to town for Bailey's blessing. They stayed at Matt's parents as well so we had a full house! We had so much fun playing with them for a week.

Taking Bailey Home!

To recover from the c-section and to enjoy some time with Bailey, Matt and I went up to my parents cabin in Midway for a couple weeks. It was so enjoyable. My mom stayed with us the entire time, which was absolutely wonderful. She was right there to answer all of our questions and showed us how to do everything. It was so comforting to have her there, because I had no idea what I was doing. She also made a delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinners every day. Thanks so much mom!!

Sleeping in her crib for the first time. We were a little nervous, but she did great! Some how she manages to get her little hands out of the tight swaddle every night. She loves having her hands up by her face. It was that way inside my stomach as well:-)

She is so strong and is always stretching when she is awake, which explains how she grew an inch and a half in two weeks.

Bailey loves her daddy. Its been so fun for me to watch Matt with her. He is so sweet to her. It melts my heart. She's definitely going to be a daddy's girl.

Bailey had a little bit of jaundice, so we had to sun bathe her everyday to help get rid of it. We're starting her out young! She's going to love being in the sun. Just like her mom!!

One night our good friends, the Georges and Denneys, came up to visit. Matt played football with Andrew and Brett and I've become really good friends with their wives. We've had so many fun times together and now we have kids to add to the fun! On to the next chapter!

We are so excited to announce that our cute little Bailey is here! She was born Saturday March 20 @ 12:28 am. She was 6 Lbs 4 oz. and 19 inches long. She is very healthy. We are so thankful for this incredible blessing in our lives.

At my appointment on Monday I was at a 3 and 80% e phased. My due date isn't until April 10th, so I couldn't believe it. My doctor said it could be any day. I started having contractions on Friday night. Matt and I went for a walk and they really kicked in. I had 12 in 6 minutes. We drove to the hospital and checked in. They did a few tests and said we were going to do a C-section in 30 minutes. It was crazy. Luckily I was mentally prepared for that news because Bailey has been breached for 8 weeks or so.

We went into the "OR" and within 20 minutes our sweet Bailey was here. Matt realized he chose the right major (Business) because he almost fainted a couple of times. He got so pale. It was an indescribable moment. We both teared up as we heard her first little cries. She is so sweet and we love her so much.

There is really nothing that can prepare you for the emotions of having a baby. Amidst so much pain (from surgery) there is realized a new level of love, not known before. Matt and I can stare at this beautiful miracle all day. She does nothing to gain our love yet we feel love at a deeper level I assume is only known to parents. She is our little angel.

Football CraZinEss

It's been so busy the past few months. First we had Mike and Jane's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. They make a gorgeous couple and we love having Jane in the family. Unfortunately, they live up in Seattle so we don't get to see them as much as we would like to, but we are looking forward to seeing them at the BYU/Utah game next week! It's Matt's finally season playing football at BYU, so I've tried to make it to all of his games. That's why I have been so bad at updating my blog. My parents have been so nice to take me to all of Matt's away games. We have been to Texas, New Orleans, Las Vegas, San Diego, and New Mexico in the past two months. The only game we've missed is Wyoming. It's been so fun to spend some one on one time with my parents. I love being with them. For the San Diego game all my sisters came down. We went a few days early so we could soak up as much sun as possible. We went to Sea World and the beach, ate yummy food, went shopping, and of course the game! After the game Matt and I announced to everyone that we are having a baby!! We had a little jersey made with Matt's number and "Baby Bauman" printed on the back. It was so cute. After the game we all waited for Matt to come out of the locker room. When he came out he pulled out the jersey and everyone was so surprised. I've never seen my sisters more excited about anything. They are going to be the best babysitters in the world!! Our little one is due on April 10th! I'm 20 weeks, so about half way there. We can't wait for the next chapter of our lives with a new member in our family. Matt will also be done with football and school, which is going to be so weird, but nice. Life without football... What!! I can't even imagine. ha I'm finally going to have my husband back on the weekends and evenings! How wonderful that is going to be. He's been so busy the past few months not only with school and football, but he's been applying to business schools and jobs as well. He's been back to Boston with an interview at Harvard and has an interview with Stanford on Tuesday. He's applying for the MBA program for the fall of 2012. So he's hoping he can get some work experience in before starting the program. The job market is not the best right now so it has taken a lot of patience and determination to get interviews and callbacks. We are keeping our fingers crossed!! SO as of right now we have no idea what are plans are after December, but something is going to work out. Maybe just not on our time frame. Matt is working so hard. I feel so blessed to be married to him. We've had so many wonderful memories down in Provo. Matt has loved playing football for BYU. It's going to be sad to move on, but we've made some wonderful friends that we'll have forever. I really don't know what I would do without such great friends and familu. I love you all so much!

We played this game where everyone had to guess what kind of candy bar was melted in the baby diaper. It looked so much like real baby poo.

It was so funny watching everyone smell the diapers. Some people said there mind was taking over and all they could smell was real baby poo.

It was great.

Owen and Maddie, Aren't his eyes amazing? Maddie fell in love with this little boy and took care of him during the shower. She is going to be the best babysitter once I have kids.

Spanish Fork Rodeo

Last weekend We went to the Spanish Fork ROdeo with all of Matt's high school friends and their wives/girlfriends. We always have a great time with this group. They're one of the few high school groups that will be friends the rest of their lives.

I made Matt get all dressed up with me for the Rodeo. He even wore his tight tight wranglers. It was hilarious watching him try to get into our car. He couldn't stretch his legs at all. It's always fun to dress the part when you go to a rodeo. It makes you enjoy it that much more.
